MOSS Weekend Treat | The Swan
It was a special birthday in our camp last week and to celebrate we went away for the weekend, to the stunning Cotswolds. It's one of our favourite spots and we found an absolute gem of a place.
The Cotswolds has always been insanely popular, but more recently, there seems to have been an influx of overt luxury venues and gastro pubs popping up all over, with memberships and spa's and tasting menus. So we were pleased as punch to find a decent pub, with stylish rooms, touches of luxury, yet staying true to pub roots with a solid, simple, yet delicious menu.
The Swan, at Ascott under Wynchwood, is the second pub to be opened by Charlie and Willow Crossley. Only recently opened, we had the honour of holding the first event in their function room which was perfect.
The staff were super lovely and we felt well looked after from the moment we walked through the door. The refurbished bar is intimate and inviting, with an open fire and feels extremely homely.
And not only is the food hearty and soulful; possibly the best scotch egg I've ever had, the rooms are decorated with soul too. Instead of a cookie cutter theme throughout, the unique Cole & Son wallpaper patterns are different in each room, adding life and a flirty edge to the place, in signature Willow Crossley style.
I sound like I'm gushing; I am, I could go on, but know there were a few teething problems too. However all were handled really well by the team. The stay was delightful, the food even more so and style wise, it's really refreshing to see colour, texture and pattern being used without caution.
Plus to add to the delight of our lush weekend away, in our world, it was a huge occasion. It wasn't just any 40th birthday. We celebrated the journey of my truly remarkable man and his journey of recovery. A top weekend all round!
If you're looking for a lush quiet getaway, we definitely recommend you check them out.
Now, to have an excuse to go again...
